Il Brutalismo Italiano is the twenty-second volume in a continuing series of zines dedicated to brutalist architecture across the globe.
From the monumental buildings of Rome and Naples to the quieter urban landscapes of Turin, Bologna, Venice, Palermo and Terni, this volume explores the diversity of Italian postwar concrete architecture. Across these cities, brutalism took on different forms, shaped by regional identity, modernist experimentation and everyday urban life.
This 24-page A5 magazine features black and white photography by Stefano Samà. The photographs focus on texture, geometry and atmosphere, capturing both the monumental and more intimate sides of the built environment. Concrete surfaces, sharp shadows and repeating forms reveal the character of buildings shaped by ambition, function and time.
The volume also includes photographs from Naples by Francesco Sammarco, documenting La Casa del Portuale, one of the city's most distinctive examples of postwar modernist architecture.
Printed on premium 150 gsm paper with a 300 gsm card cover, this edition offers a tactile and visual experience for readers interested in brutalism, architectural photography and modernist design.
A considered addition for architecture enthusiasts, collectors of independent publications or anyone drawn to the expressive qualities of concrete within the Italian urban landscape.
