Alphabet is the artists’ magazine. Here, they run the show. They write, they make images, they select their own works and the works of others, they interview the figures they admire, they tell us what we did not know about them nor could have ever fathomed about life. This is conceived entirely to put them in the driver’s seat, and to enable readers to become part of the unique vision of some of today’s greatest luminaries.
Issue 3
The new issue of Alphabet carries on with the magazine’s DNA, opening up a space of freedom and creativity for visionaries from all fields of art, from architecture, poetry, design, the visual arts, film, theater, and fashion. The artists are given room to provide readers with their own take on the world, without any constraint other than the section to which they are contributing.
By taking on regular sections of standard publications, they infuse them with new meanings, thereby reinvigorating the magazine format. Alphabet is thus the anti-magazine and the magazine of magazines at the same time.
Together with its third issue, Alphabet presents La Pausa from A to Z, a special edition supplement created in collaboration with CHANEL Arts, Culture & Heritage. Conceived as an abécédaire of Gabrielle Chanel’s legendary Riviera villa, La Pausa brings together artists, writers, and thinkers to explore the creative spirit that animated the house and continues to inspire today.
Reimagining this spirit for today, Alphabet invited contemporary voices—each interpreting a letter from A to Z—to respond freely to the legacy of La Pausa. Their contributions span literature, photography, design, painting, and beyond, forming a portrait of creative life as Gabrielle Chanel envisioned it: boundless, collaborative, and always in motion.
