Justsmile Issue 6 “Eyes on the Prize” explores all things sports, athletics, and endurance and their intersections with culture and fashion. Justsmile Editor-in-Chief, Kevin Hunter, celebrates the freedom of sports and its ability to dissolve the boundaries between us.

Cover 1 features Carmelo and Kiyan Anthony photographed by Rahim Fortune and styled by Mobolaji Dawodu. In Larence Burney’s cover feature ‘Like Father, Like Son’, the two open up about the past, present, and future of rap, basketball, and the Anthony name. Carmelo Anthony is widely known as one of the greatest basketball players in NBA history. Will his son follow in his footsteps?

Cover 2 features Bill T. Jones photographed by Casper Kofi and styled by Eric McNeal. The 73-year-old athlete-turned-dancer is internationally renowned for his choreography and boasts a career spanning over five decades. In an insightful conversation with writer and activist Darnell L. Moore, Jones discusses the conflicts of the Black body, his contributions to New York Arts Live, and the legacy he envisions for himself and for Black queer men.

Cover 3 features 25-year-old motocross rider Carl Fischer, who has has never been featured in a magazine before. Captured by photographer (and fellow rider) Alexander Morgan 15 miles outside of Las Vegas, Morgan’s portraits of Fisher capture both the purity of the solitary sport and its capacity to create meaningful connections.

Also in the issue: the Haitian-raised photographer Philip-Daniel Ducasse, who previously worked as a nutritionist and personal trainer, presents “Muscle Memory of a Place,” a new series of photographs inspired by his travels to Ghana. We touch down in Houston, Texas, to play a game of golf with former NFL star Victor Cruz. British menswear designer Saul Nash presents us with his latest collection on the streets of London.

A dancer since the age of five, Nash emphasizes that movement influences everything he does. We also catch up with three fine artists, Sable Elyse Smith, Emmanuel L. Desir, and Enrique Garcia, to find out more about their enduring practices and stories. And luxury fashion sport casual with Louis Vuitton’s Summer collection, and ultra-pro with fashion editor Marcus Correa’s extreme-sport collection.
