This is the first publication from 494Design. Showcasing a selection of images from an ongoing photographic project documenting decaying typography in the environment. It combines a love of typography with a long fascination and appreciation of the subtleties of decay itself, it's textures, it's colours, it's ephemeral nature.
With this work the photographer has been discerning, each image showing the beauty and often abstract nature of typographic decay, offering a unique and intriguing way of looking at typography.
The book is published as a limited edition of 250 hand numbered copies, with 30 colour images and postcard insert. Soft cover, Litho printed with section sewn perfect binding.
"Subjected to the rigorous of an outdoor existence, typography takes on a new dimension. Over time natural erosion and decay transform its physical state, abstracting its elemental qualities, revealing a new image, creating a new communication.
Recording one moment in time. Capturing a decaying letter form. Exploring the intricate surface texture, pattern and colour. Celebrating the beauty of decaying typography."
